چکیده

The interaction of thruster plumes with satellite components is investigated with emphasis on the undesirable effects such as disturbance force/torque, thermal loading, and species deposition in the Korea MultiPurpose Satellite-II (KOMPSAT-II) base region. Actual configuration of satellite is simplified by considering four major components of hydrazine thrusters, S-band antenna, and surrounding ring. For numerical simulation, a fully unstructured three-dimensional DSMC code is developed and validated. DSMC computation enables us to visualize the detailed flow structure as well as surface properties, which otherwise would not be possible in the simplified engineering analysis. As a result, the present thruster arrangement used in KOMPSAT-II is found to provide the negligible disturbance force/torque and thermal loading compared with their nominal thrust/torque and solar heating. The species deposition is also insignificant due to the high surface temperature of satellite body while a large amount of H 2 molecules is colliding with the S-band antenna cone. This study clearly shows the usefulness of numerical simulation for plume effect analysis in the development phase of satellite. Effects of Some Parameters on Thermal Control of a LEO Satellite

Satellite thermal control ensures safe operating temperature ranges for satellite components throughout the mission life. Effects of altitude, spin, and position of satellite radiator(s) on the thermal control of a small Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite have been studied. Results show that change in satellite altitude, in the range considered here, does not produce critical thermal conditions. H...

Investigation of Geostrophic and Ekman Surface Current Using Satellite Altimetry Observations and Surface Wind in Persian Gulf and Oman Sea

The rise of satellite altimetry is a revolution in the ocean sciences. Due to its global coverage and its high resolution, altimetry classically outperforms in situ water level measurement. Ekman and geostrophic currents are large parts of the ocean’s current, playing a vital role in global climate variations. According to the classic oceanography, Ekman and geostrophic currents can be calculat...

High efficient Perovskite solar cells base on Niobium Doped TiO2 as a Buffer Layer

Here, the effect of lightly Niobium doped TiO2 layer on the performance of perovskite solar cells has been studied by using solar cell capacitance simulator (SCAPS). N addition, the effects of Niobium concentration, buffer film thickness and operating temperature on the performance of the perovskite solar cell are investigated. For doping level of 3.0 mol% into the TiO2 layer, cell efficiency o...

Hot Flow Pressure Map of a Vacuum Facility as a Function of Flow Rate to Study Facility Effects*†

A neutral background pressure map of the Large Vacuum Test Facility (LVTF) at the University of Michigan is presented. The LVTF was mapped at hot anode (i.e., discharge on) flow rates of 5.25 and 10.46 mg/s, corresponding to P5 Hall thruster operating conditions of 1.5 and 3.0 kW. The chamber pressure was mapped at nominal xenon pumping speeds of 140,000 and 240,000 l/s, corresponding to base p...
